The Van K. Smith Consumer Health Information Service (CHIS) serves patients, family members, and the communities of southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. The CHIS is a free public service of Mercy Hospital Springfield Medical Library. This service is directed toward the needs of the health consumer and general public to enable them to make informed health decisions and become active participants in their health care and total well-being. Professional medical librarians are available to provide assistance in locating health information. Assistance is provided for quick reference questions as well as more in-depth research needs. Requests for assistance may be submitted by phone, email, or online.
