Volunteer Income Tax Assistance - Community Partnership of the Ozarks
Community Partnership of the Ozarks coordinates with several organizations to provide the VITA program in the Greene County area. IRS certified volunteers prepare free basic federal and state tax returns with electronic filing for qualified individuals.
The VITA program is generally for taxpayers of low-to-moderate income ($65,000 or less) and for people with disabilities. Emphasis is on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Missouri Property Tax Credit (MO PTC) (rent rebate).
VITA clinics will operate February 1 to April 15 and appointments are required. Call 417-720-2000 to schedule an appointment. Expect delays due to call volume.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance - Drury University
Mondays in February from 4 – 7 p.m. Calling last client at 6:30 p.m.
Drury University’s Breech School of Business students are certified by the IRS to provide some FREE tax services to the community as an IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site. They can help most members of the community with income of $58,000 or less.
Come to the second floor of the C.H. “Chub” O’Reilly Enterprise Center and Breech School of Business Administration on the corner of Central Street and Drury Lane.

Only the taxpayer and spouse will be allowed to be present. No children or other parties are allowed unless they are needed for communication purposes or needed to help due to a disability.

Tax Counseling for the Elderly
SeniorAge Area Agency on Aging TCE program is primarily for adults 60 years of age and over or 100% disabled individuals. IRS-certified volunteers specialize in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors. They will prepare free federal and state tax returns and Missouri Property Tax Credit (rent rebate) forms.
TCE sites will provide assistance from early February to the end of tax season and appointments are required. Contact your nearest SeniorAge Senior Center at 417-862-0762 for further information and to make an appointment.
Documents to bring:
Photo ID for taxpayer and spouse
Social Security numbers (or Form 1099-SSA) for the individual, spouse, and all dependents
Birth dates for taxpayer, spouse, and dependents
Documentation for all income (wages, social security, railroad retirement, pensions, IRA/401K distributions, gambling, interest, dividends, sale of stock, etc.), usually a Form W-2 or 1099, and child and dependent care expenses
Child care provider's information: Payee's name, address, and SSN or TIN; total paid for childcare
Bank account and routing numbers (for direct deposit)
Copy of last year's federal and state tax returns, if available
If over 65 or disabled, bring a receipt for real estate taxes, or a landlord statement of rent paid (MO Form 5674) in 2023 if you may qualify for the Missouri Property Tax Credit (or rent rebate).
To file a joint tax return electronically, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms
