Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale Oct. 22-27 at Remington's

October 18, 2013 — Nearly four tractor-trailers filled with books, CDs, DVDs and more are being unloaded Sunday and Monday, Oct. 20-21, to get ready for the huge Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale beginning Tuesday, Oct. 22, through Sunday, Oct. 27, at Remington’s, 1655 W. Republic Road.

  • The biggest selection is available from 10 a.m-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, through Friday, Oct. 25.
  • Be sure to come back from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, to pick up additional bargains during Half-Price Day. Everything in the store will be half of the marked price.
  • 1-5 p.m. Oct. 27, is Bag Day. The Friends will give you a bag or more when you enter, and everything you can squeeze in each bag costs only $1, or $5 from the better books side.
  • Of course, you can be among the very first to shop from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21. That’s the annual Friends Night Preview Sale. Members of the Friends whose dues are up-to-date may glide into the sale that night. Non-members can pay $5 at the door and apply it to a Friends membership anytime that night.

Holiday gift-giving time will be upon us before long. The Friends Book Sale is a perfect place to pick up new and like-new books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks or a rare, older book that the collector in your circle would love to own. Signs make it easy for you to find your favorite genre, topic, music, or videocassettes, vinyl records, puzzles and board games.

This sale includes an especially large selection of children’s books – great for building your child’s or grandchild’s home library, for home-schoolers or school libraries that need to fill out their collections.

Children’s books are 50 cents or less; adult, young adult books and most audiovisual are $1 or less; better books are $2 and up. Only cash or checks are accepted.

All the items were either donated by individuals through the year or weeded from the library district collections and priced by Friends volunteers.

The library district is supported largely through Greene County property taxes, but that doesn’t cover all the technology, special series and concerts that you love to attend. For those, we have the Friends – and eager shoppers – to thank.
