Cash in on Advice at Money Smart Week April 18-25

March 20, 2015 —      Visit the Library for useful and fun programs for all ages on making the most of your hard-earned cash. The Library partners with area financial, investment and consumer groups during Money Smart Week April 18-25 to provide this series of free seminars on saving, spending and investing.

     Here’s the schedule:
Understanding Credit
Monday, April 20, 6:30 p.m. in the Library Station Santa Fe Room. Becky Wright, Empire Bank, will discuss the importance of credit and how to improve it. Library staff members will be on hand to help you obtain a copy of your free credit report after the presentation.

Retirement Planning Strategies in Today's Economy
Monday, April 20, 7 p.m. in the Library Center auditorium. An investment officer from U.S. Bank will discuss asset allocation, risk tolerance and portfolio construction in a low-interest-rate environment. Attendees will also learn techniques to evaluate individual retirement savings.

Estate Planning Basics
Tuesday, April 21, 7 p.m. in the Library Center auditorium. Confused about the estate planning process? An expert from Ozarks Elder Law will discuss estate planning and probate matters.

Better Business Bureau Secure Your ID Day
Saturday, April 25, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for adults at the Great Southern Bank Operations Center, 218 S. Glenstone Ave. Gather up unwanted documents and take advantage of this FREE shredding service. Drive up and drop off up to three (3) bags or boxes of documents to be securely shredded on the spot! Have more than three bags or boxes? You may go through the line as many times as you need. No cardboard or three-ring binders please.

Especially for Kids: Making Sense of Numbers Storytime
Even young children need to understand the concept of money. But first they need to understand how numbers and counting work. We'll read fun stories, sing songs and do activities that build early math skills.
