Swap Seeds and Stories at Heirloom Seed Festival
August 31, 2015 — Celebrate a successful growing season and the first year of the Library’s Heirloom Seed Library at the Heirloom Seed Festival!
Join us on the Library Station’s lower parking lot from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, for live music, refreshments, seed swapping, veggie contests and fun for all ages.
Bring your heirloom seeds to swap with others, and let your veggies shine as they compete for blue ribbons in four categories: tastiest, prettiest, biggest and weirdest. Sign up by 3:30 p.m., winners will be announced at 4 p.m.
Enjoy music by Steve Ames, Casey Lynne and Clifton Boone, and learn about area organizations dedicated to gardening and sustainability.
Watch a screening of the documentary "Seed Swap," not rated, at 5 p.m. in the Frisco Room. The film presents a wide range of open-pollinated, heirloom seeds of the Ozarks, and teaches the steps necessary to establish a community seed bank and host seed swaps.
