We Are Taking Fantastic Fridays on the Road in June

May 24, 2018 —      Fantastic Fridays are back this year, especially for kids in grades K-5. Bring your library card – the Mobile Library will be parked nearby for all of these events.

KY3 for Kids Storybreak is now part of Fantastic Fridays! Look for KY3 personalities at the Railroad Historical Museum, Steam Engine Grounds and Springfield Art Museum. And be sure to catch more KY3 personalities at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at the Fair Grove Branch Library.

      Here's the lineup:

  • Fantastic Friday at the Railroad Historical Museum

Friday, June 1, 10 a.m.-noon at Grant Beach Park, 1300 N. Grant St. Tracks, switches, signals – there's a lot going on to get trains moving. Chug along with us to Grant Beach Park, where Railroad Historical Museum volunteers will explain how it all works and provide tours of the train engine and cars, the steam engine, caboose and depot! Join library staff for train stories, activities and fun. KY3 Ozarks Today anchor Maria Neider will provide a Storybreak at 10:30 a.m. Co-sponsored by the Railroad Historical Museum. Call 865-1340.

  •  Fantastic Friday at the Springfield Botanical Center

Friday, June 8, 10 a.m.-noon at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic Ave. Discover nature's music at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park. Join us for stories and songs, visit the Dr. Bill Roston Native Butterfly House and explore the gardens and play structures as you engage in our sensory scavenger hunt! Call 882-0714.

  •  Fantastic Friday at Springfield Conservation Nature Center: Let's Get Physical

Friday, June 15, 9 a.m.-noon at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 4601 S. Nature Center Way. Let’s get physical as we team with our friends at the Nature Center to see what it takes for wildlife to build a home out of stones, pebbles and rocks. Bring your entire family and enjoy indoor/outdoor activities, stories, crafts and more as we rock to the symphonies of nature. Drop by anytime and plan on spending at least an hour. Call 883-1974.

  •  Fantastic Friday at the Steam Engine Grounds

Friday, June 22, 10 a.m.-noon for grades K-5 at the Steam Engine Grounds, U.S. 60. Steam power rocks! Our friends from the Ozark Steam Engine Association and the Southwest Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association are dedicated to restoring the steam-powered engines used in farming and industry in the mid-19th century. Members of the associations will open the Steam-O-Rama event grounds to summer readers for a magnificent visit to the past, including storytimes, music from award-winning storyteller/musician Mike Anderson and fun activities. KY3’s Liz McGiffin will provide a Storybreak at 11:30 a.m. Located on the south side of U.S. 60. Enter the grounds from Farm Road 170. Call 732-7284.

  •  Fantastic Friday at the Springfield Art Museum

Friday, June 29, 10 a.m.-noon for grades K-5 at the Springfield Art Museum, 1111 E. Brookside Drive. Color your world beautiful!
