Watch Your Favorite Librarians in Storytimes and More, Virtually
May 5, 2020 — The Library is going live for kids!
Children and families are invited to join their favorite children’s librarians for Storytime and More with the Library, at 10 a.m. each Tuesday on the Library’s Facebook page @thelibrary.org. They'll read stories, sign songs you can follow along at home, and sometimes share an activity you can do at home.
You can also visit our YouTube channel, SpringfieldGreene, or youtube.com/springfieldgreene, anytime for more great videos for kids. Mr. Joe plays his guitar and sings “I Wish I Was a Mole in the Ground.” Miss Phyllis tells a story and makes bees rise from their hive!
The activities are geared for children from toddlers through age 8, but all ages are welcome to follow along. Visit the Library’s Racing to Read page for more playful ideas that help your young one get ready to learn to read. New ideas are posted weekly.
“We miss seeing all of you and know that you’re missing the Library, too. While everyone is staying at home, we’re going to bring the Library to you with a weekly live video including stories, rhymes, songs and other activities that you can follow along at home,” said Sarah Bean Thompson, Library Center Youth Services manager. The project is being conducted with full permission of the books’ publishers, in keeping with copyright laws.
Families can also visit thelibrary.org/kids for weekly activity and reading suggestions in the Library’s Parents Blog, along with booklists and other resources. They can also check out the Library’s Facebook page for additional videos and websites for kids and families.
