Nurture Your Creative Soul with Library Series and Creativebug!

May 20, 2022 — If crafting is your go-to thing to destress and refresh, or you’re yearning to learn yarn art, pick up some lessons during a series of adult crafting programs through summer at the Springfield-Greene County Libraries.

While you’re at it, visit Creativebug, free with your library card, where you can tap into thousands of award-winning art and craft video classes taught by recognized design experts and artists. You can visit it at thelibrary.org/creativebug.

Here’s the summer series:

Craft & Tell, Saturday, June 4, 10 a.m. in the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch community room. Spend an hour working on a craft project you're in the middle of or begin something new while chatting with fellow crafters. If you enjoy fiber arts, needlework, drawing or any other craft that is portable, quiet and doesn't make a mess, this club is for you!

Yarn Crafting, Tuesday, June 7, 4-6 p.m. in the Midtown Carnegie Branch upstairs meeting room.  Bring your knitting and crochet projects and join other fiber artists on the first Tuesday of every month. Work on your current projects, share patterns and ideas, and check out our knitting and crochet resources. All levels of experience are welcome.

Turn Shopping Bags into Plarn! Tuesday, June 7, 4 p.m. at the Strafford Branch Library.
 Overwhelmed with bags of bags? Stop them from getting to the ocean by learn to turn them into plastic yarn that can be made into tote bags and other crafts. Materials will be provided.

Flying Needles, Tuesday, June 14, 1:30 p.m. in the Ash Grove Branch community room. Bring your knitting and crochet projects and join other fiber artists on the second Tuesday of every month. Work on your current projects, share patterns and ideas, and check out our knitting and crochet resources. All levels of experience are welcome.

Art for All, Tuesday, June 21, 10:30 a.m. in the Midtown Carnegie Branch upstairs meeting room, for adults and teens in grades 6-12. Local artist Don Haden teaches participants that anyone can make art, even without expensive art supplies. Materials will be provided. Registration starts June 7; call 417-862-0135.

 Fishnet-Wrapped Mason Jars, Thursday, June 23, 6-8 p.m. in the Library Center Story Hour Room.  p.m.-8 p.m. for adults. Add a bit of beach décor to your home with fun, fishnet-inspired jars that work great for tea lights, table decoration or organization. Learn how to wrap a glass jar with a lattice pattern from braided jute cord. Materials will be provided. Registration starts June 7; call 417-883-5341.
