Author Clifton Taulbert Speaks Sept. 27 with Message for Business and Community

August 24, 2022 — The public has two opportunities to hear how a young man in Mississippi became a successful businessman, author and international speaker by following his eight habits of the heart, and how we can do the same to build a strong community.

The Impact of the Entrepreneurial Mindset: Then & Now with Clifton Taulbert is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the Jay Wasson Idea Loft at The efactory, 405 N. Jefferson Ave.

Clifton Taulbert sees the words "gumption" and "entrepreneurial thinking" as a clarion call to individual and corporate action – imagining beyond what we know and see. The Time Magazine-recognized entrepreneur will take us on a journey to show how imagination ignites innovation, starting with his childhood in the Mississippi Delta where his uncle operated an icehouse, to fitness centers around the world where Taulbert's Stairmaster exercise system maintains prominence.

Sponsored by the Missouri Small Business Development Center at Missouri State University, The efactory and Multicultural Business Association.

Register on the program listing at thelibrary.org/programs. Registration begins Sept. 14.

Our Destination: An Engaged Community; Our GPS Navigator: Unselfishness is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the Library Center auditorium.
Taulbert grew up on the Mississippi Delta during an era of legal segregation and few opportunities, and went on to be a successful businessman and author, traveling the world from China to Australia speaking on the power of community to positively transform lives and relationships.

He'll share his Eight Habits of the Heart - nurturing attitude, responsibility, dependability, friendship, sisterhood/brotherhood, high expectations, courage and hope - as a foundation of an engaged community. Sponsored by the Library Foundation.
