Only a few months after America entered the Second World War, a young sailor named Vernon Richardson traveled to Great Britain to join the crew of a U.S. Navy cruiser. While waiting for his ship to return to port, he experienced the people of Northern Ireland and Scotland and found romance with a Scottish lass. Forty Years On: The Shannon County Documentaries at MSU. Missouri State University Archivist Anne Baker will discuss the two-part documentary, "Shannon County: Home" and "Shannon County: Hearts of the Children," that was filmed in the late 70s, released in 1981 and is preserved at MSU. Watch selections from the documentary films and learn about the unused video footage, photographs and other archival material that supported the project.
