American Indian Center of Springfield Program Director Stephanie Le-Charles Hall will share the history of Three Sisters planting and how corn, beans and squash plants nurture and depend on each other. Patrons will learn how to grow Mandan Bride Corn, Trail of Tears Beans and Butternut Squash varieties. Participants will receive Heirloom Seed Library Three Sisters seed kits. Watch for more Three Sisters programs this summer and fall. This program is provided in partnership with the American Indian Center of Springfield and Springfield Community Gardens. In the 1970s organizers of the American Indian Movement (AIM) fought for Native American liberation and survival as a community of extended families. "Warrior Women," not rated, is the story of Madonna Thunder Hawk, one such AIM leader. She shaped a kindred group of activists' children – including her daughter Marcy – into the "We Will Remember" Survival School as a Native alternative to government-run education. Together, Madonna and Marcy fought for Native rights in an environment that made them more comrades than mother-daughter. Admission is free. A One Read event.

Dale Flippo has stepped forward and is going to replace Dr. Evans' presentation with one on "Women in Astronomy."* Over the course of several decades, geologists identified mysterious rock disturbances across southern Missouri. Years of field and lab work led to the discovery of the fourth-largest known meteor impact in America, right here in the Missouri Ozarks. Explore the story of the Weaubleau-Osceola impact structure with Dr. Kevin Evans, geology professor at Missouri State University. The National Women and Media Collection, held by the State Historical Society of Missouri, will host a panel discussion featuring journalists and media professionals in southwest Missouri to talk about the changing roles for women in the media industry. The State Historical Society of Missouri will display an exhibit titled "Celebrating the National Women in Media Collection: Southwest Missouri Edition," at the Library Station through May. - Poetry from the Pitcher's Mound: Loren Broaddus' Baseball Poems

Combining a love of history and baseball, Loren Broaddus' poetry explores themes of family, traditions and nostalgia to portray 20th century America against the backdrop of a baseball diamond.
