[A]

In compiling this Directory of Towns, Villages and Hamlets, Past and Present of Polk County, Mo., every effort has been made to include every town or community in the county.

Messrs. Dunnegan, Anderson, (initials unknown), Mose Voris all of Bolivar, and Mr. John Robinson, postmaster at Halfway kindly consented to read the manuscript of this directory. All of them contributed greatly to the correctness of the material used, and they are duly recognized in proper sequence.

The staff in the Historical Department, at the Public Library, of Springfield, made possible the examination of rare books.

In addition to the individuals mentioned above, two tellers at the Union National Bank, Mrs. Angie Corbin, and Mrs. Cheryl Wadsworth, told some personal recollections which are not generally known. They, too, are given recognition in proper sequence.

Many books, maps and other material were examined, and they are listed on the next page.
