MEMBERSHIPS - INVESTMENTS IN THE AREA

A membership in the White River Valley Historical Society is not a contribution. It is an in vestment in the area, with tangible returns.

Each membership entitles the enrollee to a year's subscription to the quarterly, which is expected to carry many, many items of interest and articles of historical value. In addition, membership in the Society makes you a part of a movement to add to the attractions of the area.

Historical markers draw attention. Many vacationers take time to stop to read them; the lore they draw from them makes their visit more interesting and memorable. Membership in the Society furthers the placement of such markers. Many, many of them are planned. A strong organization can back other projects, too, such as special historical displays and an area museum.

The commercial value of such attractions should be obvious to Chambers of Commerce and other promotional organizations. Civic clubs of all kinds cannot fail to perceive the cultural values. Their attention is called to Class 3, below - Business and Professional Memberships. *

Memberships run from July 1 of each year; quarterlies issued before receipt of dues will be mailed to late enrollees as long as issues are available. Memberships are welcomed at any and all times.

Classes of Memberships and Dues

  1. Individual Memberships - any person interested in the purposes of the Society is eligible $1.00
  2. Sustaining Memberships - a person, group or firm offering special support is eligible $5.00
  3. * Business and Professional Memberships - any business firm, institution or professional group interested in the history of the White River Valley $10.00

From time to time, a fourth group of members shall be selected as an honorary gesture. Honorary memberships are maintained without regard to dues.
