A Salute to the Carroll County Historical Society
By Elmo Ingenthron

All persons interested in the history of the upper White River valley will be proud of the work being done by the Carroll County Histoircal Society of Carroll County, Arkansass. Their local historical society was organized several years prior to the organization of the White River Val ley Historical Society. It has done an excellent job in preserving the history of that area of the White River valley.

The Carroll County Historical Society publishes a Historical Quarterly covering many facets of our by-gone years. Carroll county, Arkansas has contributed much to the historical development of the upper White River valley. A historical know ledge of the region is not complete without a knowledge of the part played by Carroll county and its people.

There is no doubt many members of the White River Valley Historical Society that would enjoy reading Carroll County's historical quarterly and learning more about the contribution made by these people.

It is hoped that in due time each of the counties of the upper White River Valley of Missouri and Arkansas will organize a local historical society to forward the work of their county and the entire region. Many things can be done better locally than regionally. Much of our heritage is slipping away never to be recorded. There is plenty for all interested persons to do in salvaging what remains of our part of American History. For further information write Coy Logan, Editor, Carroll County Historical Quaterly, Berryville, Arkansas.
