American Legion Post 592 Presents Cannon as Memorial

American Legion Post 592 of Forsyth recently presented a cannon to the people of Taney County and dedicated it to the memory and honor of Taney County veterans, especially to those "Who gave the last full measure of devotion" in the service of their country. The cannon, a 75mm Howitzer, stand's on the courthouse lawn at Forsyth as a memorial to all the wars our country has fought.

Commander J. O. Mauney and all members of the Legion Post are to be commended for making this contribution to the preservation of the memory of our past. The White River Valley Historical Society believes that this example set by the Legionaires should encourage other civic organizations to consider the sponsorship of memorials to the history of our region.
