Genealogy Of The Ackerman Family

Andrew Antoine Ackerman, Feb. 23, 1801, July 17, 1892, born in Germany. Christine Alcie ______ Sept 2, 1802, Oct. 8, 1881, born in Germany.

To the above was born; Michael Ackerman at Sachen Altenberg, Germany, Jan. 1831, who married Christine Louise Felsman, born in Braunschweig, Germany, Jan. 31, 1851. Michael Ackerman died in Nov. 1901 at Marionville, Mo., and Christine Ackerman died Nov. 25, 1925, at Aurora, Mo.

Michael and Christine Ackerman migrated to the United States and settled at Coatsburg, Ill., where Michael built wagons. Later they moved to Missouri and settled on a farm south of Marionville. Michael’s grandson, Arthur Franklin Ackerman, is at present living on the old family farm.

Born in Marionville, Mo. Gertrude Frances, June 24, 1886, married Ben Gray. Bertha Anne, Aug. 20, 1892, married Loren Williams.

Charles Henry Ackerman married Leona Ellen McDonald, Oct. 20, 1896, in Marionville, Mo;

Children of Charles and Leona: Arthur Franklin, born Aug. 7,1897; Martha Ercelle, born May 14, 1901; Letha Edna, born Dec. 1, 1904; Edith Gertrude, born Aug. 29, 1908, died April 12, 1945; Frederick McDonald, born Sept. 24, 1912.

Arthur Franklin married Josephine Stanley Nov. 26, 1919 in Chanute, Kansas. Born to them:

Charles Stanley, born Sept. 20, 1922; Ralph Hugh, born Feb. 24, 1926, died April 1930; Elizabeth Josephine, born Feb. 6, 1929; Clyde Harold, born Dec. 6, 1930; Arthur Franklin, Jr., born Dec. 18, 1931; Max Fredrick, born Oct. 2, 1936; Gary Lee, born June 8, 1941.

Martha Ercelle married Jesse C. Torbett, Dec. 19, 1918 in Marionville, Missouri. Born to them: John Charles, born Sept. 27, 1919, married Mildred Forrester, June 17, 1944, born to them John Phillip, born Feb. 25, 1945; Rodger Brent, born May 24, 1947; Winnifred Evelyn, born Nov. 1, 1922, married Ansel L. Rahn, June 15, 1945; Willis Fredrick, born Nov. 3, 1937.

Letha Edna Ackerman married Harold A. Crumpley, Oct. 10, 1939.

Edith Gertrude Ackerman married Arthur Wade Tewmey, Aug. 8, 1931. Born to them: Nancy Ellen Tewmey, born Sept. 15, 1937.

Fredrick McDonald married Essie May Simmons, March 29, 1936 in Florida. Born to them:

Elloise, born May 10, 1940; Norma Gayle, born Oct. 20, 1942.

William Fredrick married Eva Stiff at Aurora, Mo.

Antone Andrew married Ella Snoddy Oct. 16, 1900 in Chanute, Kansas. Born to them: Pauline, born Aug. 30, 1902, married Allen Welch, July 8, 1922. Born to them: Hartford Royce, born Jan. 19, 1923; Bruce, born Oct. 11, 1929; Allen Lynn, born April 4, 1944; Christine, born Feb. 28, 1906, died Aug. 1906.

Antone Andrew later married Beulah Stanley, May 6, 1918 at Chanute, Kansas. Born to them: Orpha Louise, born Aug. 2, 1919, married to Dale Buchanan. Born to them: Timothy Guy, born April 25, 1943; Stanley Dale, born Aug. 15, 1945; Janet Diane, born April 20, 1948.

Christopher Phillip married Edith Erhart in Chanute, Kansas.

Franklin Falley married Lydia Josephine DeWitt in Billings, Mo., June 10, 1903. Born to them:

Cletys Reginald, born Aug. 5, 1905, married to Alma Barnes in California; Charles DeWitt, born July 1, 1907, married Genevieve Chapman in Southgate, Calif., Sept. 29, 1935. One adopted son, Mark; Max Lowell, born April 13, 1909; Anne Marguerite, born Sept. 6, 1901, married Richard L. Schneider in Los Angeles, Calif., 1945.

Herman Rudolph, married Ethel Angell in Oregon.

Joseph John married Ella May LeMaster, Sept. 6, 1909, in Aurora, Mo. Born to them:

Josephine, born Aug. 1, 1913, married Ralph Furman, Jan. 1, 1935. born to them: William Edward, born Nov. 21, 1940; Ann Louise, born Feb. 27, 1945.

Harriet Isabel, born July 6, 1915, married Richard Fausset, born to them: Richard Roy, born Dec. 12, 1943; Robert William, born Nov. 17, 1948.

Nancy Jane, born July 6, 1916, adopted by her aunt, Gertrude Frances Ackerman, upon the death of her father and mother in the Flu epidemic during World War One.

Gertrude Frances Ackerman married Ben Gray Jan. 7, 1914 and moved to Quincy, Illinois. Children (by adoption): Nancy Jane, married Arthur 0. Parks, June 14, 1941. Born to them: Jane Ellen, born July 29, 1946; Alice Ann, born April 30, 1948.

Bertha Anna Ackerman married Loren Williams at Aurora, Mo., June 4, 1914. Born to them:

John Ray, born Jan. 21, 1920; Margaret, born Dec. 22, 1924; Ralph James.

Of the children of Michael Ackerman; Charles Henry lived on the old family farm at Marionville, Mo., until his death. He operated threshing machines and a saw mill, besides farming. His son, Arthur, is at present living there and operating the farm.

William Fredrick, was in the Aurora, Mo., ice plant and power plant as engineer, then moved to California, then from there to Washington state.

Antone Andrew and Christopher Phillip, after leaving the farm, moved to Chanute, Kansas, where they operated oil well drilling rigs. They were joined by Franklin Fally in 1916 or 1917, who worked for them and other drilling contractors. Frank Fally moved to California in 1928, and at his death was employed by Walt Disney at Burbank, Calif.

Herman Rudolph moved to Oregon where he homesteaded a half section near Silver Lake. He lost the property during the depression and moved to Portland and worked as a cook until his retirement.

Joseph John worked at the Jarret flour mill in Aurora, Mo., and his brother, Franklin Falley, also worked there for a while.

Gertrude Frances moved to Quincy, Illinois, where her husband, Ben Gray, worked for the railroad.

Bertha Anna lived on a farm north of Aurora with her husband, Loren Williams. Loren Williams then went to Wichita, Kansas and contracted there on construction work. After World War II, he moved back to Missouri and did some contracting at Forsyth. Bertha now resides at Aurora.
