"Home Folks in Ireland" by Martha Gilmore
Martha Lyons Gilmore will present "Home Folks in Ireland" at the December meeting. County Kerry in many ways resembles the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas. It is not surprising that a number of the families who left the hard times of Kerry in the latter part of the 19th century settled in the Ozarks. Martha tells of one such family, her fathers, some of whom came to America and followed the railroad into the Ozarks; some of whom stayed behind in Kerry.
Society members and guests will arrive shortly after the noon hour to enjoy fellowship and lunch served by buffet or table service in the banquet room. College help is available to carry trays, so come join us for conversation prior to the meeting.
