Volume 4, Number 5 - Fall 1971
Mrs. Ruby M. Robins
Fred C. Robins and his wife, Ruby M. Robins, edited and published The Ozark County Times, Gainesville, Missouri beginning February 1959. Following the death of Fred Robins, October 1967, Mrs. Robins continued as editor and publisher of the newspaper.
Mrs. Robins received A.B. and A.M. degrees from the University of Maryland. She lived in Maryland from early childhood. She taught English at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Springs for a number of years before moving to Missouri.
Before coming to Gainesville, Mrs. Robins was associated with the State Historical Society of Missouri as director of the highway historical marker program. She wrote the copy for the large markers in county seats and at other points in counties throughout Missouri.
Mrs. Robins makes the Ozark County Times a necessity in the area and for those who formerly lived there. The newspaper gives the timely news, but every issue also contains an aritcle which tells of "history." These articles just naturally give pride and create a time for reminiscing to all the people.
Mrs. Robins soon became a working member of the White River Valley Historical Society and was elected president of the Society in 1971.
