Volume 5, Number 4 - Summer 1974

FALLEN LEAF

Far away o’er the rolling prairie. . where the noble forest lies., lived the fairest Indian maiden. . ever seen by mortal eyes. .She had eyes so like the sunbeams.. Daughter of a warrior chief. .Came to glad our home in Autumn. .And we called her Fallen Leaf..

CHORUS

Fallen Leaf the breezes whisper. . Of her Spirits early flight.. For within that lonely wigwam. there’s a wail of woe tonight.

From the depths of a tangled forest., all alone one summer day.. Came a hunter worn and weary. .from upon his distant way. .Weeks passed by, and still he lingered., lovely Fallen Leaf he spied. .And with smiles of joy she promised.. soon to be his woodland bride..

CHORUS..

Then one day this hunter wandered.. Far over the forest west alone. All alone she watched and waited. .but his fate was never known. .Weeks passed by. .and still she lingered. .with the Aunumn leaves she died.. And we closed her eyes in slumber. ‘neath the gleaming river side.

CHORUS..
