ANOTHER BRANCH OF THE KIMBERLING FAMILY

John P. Kimberling, the eldest son of Nathaniel and Nancy (Birchfield) Kimberling, was born in Missouri 1832. The family went to Texas about 1836. They came back to Franklin County, Arkansas, where they were in 1840. Before 1844 the family was back in Missouri, at that time in Taney County.
In 1850 John P. Kimberling married his cousin Nancy Jane Kimberling b 1836. Their children were:

The date of John P. Kimberling’s death is unknown, but his body is buried in Miller’s Cemetery at Mammouth, Missouri. Nancy Jane Kimberling was a well known mid-wife around Clarkridge, Arkansas. Leaving Clarkridge and the farm on the creek west of Clarkridge (now owned by Bird Thacker) she went to live with her daughter Cordelia Lemons in the Burford Community. It was here that she died in 1902 and was buried in the Fairview Cemetery, here in Baxter County Arkansas.
Nathaniel James Kimberling
Nathaniel James Kimberling was born 31st of August 1851 in Stone County, Missouri, where he later married Vienna Mexico Wikle, 27 Dec. 1868, dau of Samuel Wikle and Emily Burch Wikle.

When Emmett James was one month old the family started to Oregon State. They settled in the John Day Valley.

James Perry Kimberling
James Perry Kimberling was born in Stone County, Mo. 21 Sept 1854. He married JoannaAdams 11 May 1873. She was born 15 April 1856.

After Joanna’s death James Perry Kimberling married a widow, Sarah E. Gifford Carroll b 6 Jan. 1856. She had two sons by a first marriage.

James Perry Kimberling had lived in Oklahoma at various times. He was living in Ozark County, Missouri when he died 19 Oct. 1898 and Sarah followed the 28th of Nov. They were buried in the Faye Cemetery. The younger children were reared by half brother Joseph F. Carroll and wife Belle (Pleasant) Carroll. Mattie Kimberling Pleasant is still living on College street in Mountain Home Arkansas.
Melissa J. Kimberling
She was born 1856 in Stone County, Missouri. Nothing further is known. It was thought she stayed in Stone County when the family moved to Baxter County, Arkansas.
Amanda Kimberling
She was born in 1859 in Stone County, Missouri, married — —Davis. They had two known sons, Albert and David. They went to Oklahoma early, the sons died in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
William Kimberling
Little is known about him. My mother remembered them saying that he was a Methodist minister, unmarried who went to Portland Oregon early. A descendant of Nathaniel J. Kimberling says there was a ‘Will Kimberling came to Oregon with Nathaniel in 1877." (There was supposed to have been an argument or something and will went up in Washington state.)
George Kimberling
George Kimberling married Mary Shipley at Mountain Home, Arkansas. They moved to Atoka, Oklahoma. One known son, John did have Kimberling’s Grocery in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Cordelia Kimberling married Thomas Lemons. Known children, Everett, Roy and Silas (who was living in Texas. They lived in Buford Community where Mr. Lemon ran a cotton gin for some years. They later moved to Broken Arrow, Okla.)
David Obediah Kimberling
David Obediah Kimberling was born 11 May 1869. He married Mary Emaline Ogle b 3 Dec. 1872 in Carroll County, Virginia, daughter of Canaan and Martha Jane (Surratt) Ogle. Their children were:

David Obediah Kimberling ran a cotton gin corn mill and country store near Clarkbridge, Arkansas. After the death of Mary Emaline Kimberling 30 July 1911, he moved to Amagon, Arkansas (Jackson County) where he ran a dredge boat, digging the big ditches to drain swamp lands. Here he met and married Charley Lulu Stansberry. Their children were:
