Minutes of Quarterly Meeting
December 9, 1979

Meeting-Date-Time-Place
The White River Valley Historical Society held its regular quarterly meeting on December 9 at 1:15 P. M. in the Good Memorial College Center Cafeteria with Kathleen Van Buskirk, vice president, presiding. The invocation was given by Dr. Alice Nightingale.

Welcome
Thirty-eight members and guests were welcomed. Guests and two new members were introduced.

Minutes & Treasurer’s Report
Minutes of the September 9 meeting were approved as printed. The Treasurer’s books showed a balance of $1910.60.

Secretary’s Report
The Secretary’s report communicated the following information:
New members added to the roster since September meeting is 24.
Members dropped for non-payment of dues is 35.
The roll now lists 279 paid memberships plus 8 honorary and gift memberships.
Twenty-two copies of the Topical Index sold this quarter.
News articles announcing today’s meeting were sent to 12 area newspapers and radio station KSOZ.

Article submitted to the State Historical Society’s magazine was printed in their October issue.
Correspondence
A note from President Brown, who is in Poway, California to be with her daughter, Pat Kregar, was read. A card was signed by all present to be sent to Mrs. Kregar, who will undergo surgery next week.

Editor
Ruth Asher, editor, pleaded for more material for publication.

Program
Dr. Fred Pfister, faculty member of The School of the Ozarks, whose hobby is compiling a file of Ozark names spoke on "How Some Ozark Places Got Their Names". He challenged our membership to take up this hobby or, to help others get all information recorded for a permanent history.

Announcements
It was announced that the Secretary still has copies of the Topical Index for sale at $1.00 each.

Adjournment
March 9 was announced as the next meeting date. Adjournment at 3:20 P. M.
