Minutes of Quarterly Meeting
March 9, 1980

MEETING-DATE-TIME-PLACE
At 1:15 P.M. on March 9, 1980, in the Good Memorial College Center Cafeteria, The School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Missouri, President Lucille A. Brown convened the regular quarterly meeting of the White River Valley Historical Society and greeted a standing room only crowd.

INVOCATION
Esther Beveridge gave the invocation.

ATTENDANCE
Introductions were made by each person present and ninety-three members and guests signed the attendance register.

MINUTES
Minutes of the March 9 meeting were approved as printed.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:
Six new members added to roster making a total of 291 names on the roll.
Six topical indexes sold this quarter.
Meeting announcements were sent to 14 area newspapers and radio station KSOZ.
Article submitted to the State Historical Society was printed in January issue of the quarterly.

TREASURER’ S REPORT
Treasurer’s report listed the bank balance as $1,832.92.

CORRESPONDENCE
A letter from a map company was read from which members could order 1880 maps. Secretary offered to order for all to obtain bulk rate.
An invitation to join the Federation of Genealogical Studies was read. No action taken.
A price list from a service offering books, pedigree charts, worksheets and search calendars was read.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE
A first reading of the Committee on Nominations was read by Chairman, Esther Beveridge. Icy Curry and Edith McCall also served on the committee.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
President Brown made the following announcements:
Topical Index for sale from the Secretary - $1.00
Quarterlies would be for sale in office after meeting
Annual meeting date will be June 8.

PROGRAM
Dr. and Mrs. Townsend Godsey presented a program of slides and narration on "White River Country B.D. -- Before Dams". The Godsey’s dug into their vast collection to show photos never before published. The Godsey’s are professional photographers and writers. Kathleen Van Buskirk, Vice President and program chairman, announced that the September program would be "Show and Tell". Members are asked to bring Ozark articles and stories of historical interest.

Meeting adjourned 3 P.M.
