Identifying the Pictures

I found the last issue of the quarterly very interesting, especially the pictures of Front Street in Hollister in years past.
I was employed as cook at Ye English Inn at the time these pictures were taken. I don’t recall who made the pictures, (if I knew at the time) but I do remember the day they were taken.
The car parked in front was a ‘36 Ford Coupe and belonged to my husband, Charles Pruett. The time was the summer of ‘47.
The cafe in the middle of the block was known as The Blue Lantern Tea Room. It was operated by W. W. Denny and I remember it as a very charming little place. Small blue lanterns hung from the ceiling and also one on each table and over the back bar.
Harrods was a dry goods and notions store. I have bought many items there, but I don’t remember anything about the people who owned it.
This is easy for me to remember because it was the last summer I worked at The English Inn, and I could never forget the car! Few people would, if they were driving it down the Branson Hill and the brakes failed just as they hit the steepest part!
Believe me, that was excitement spelled in capital letters.
