Cleo Curnutt Dickerson, 3734 Clearwell, Amarillo, TX, 79109, writes for help and sends the following information:
Great grandparents were Riley Denton Curnutt, born 1 May, 1825 in Campbell County, TN., married Parlena Frances Albright, who was born 16 May 1827, also in CC. TN. Riley died 28 Sept. 1876 in Boone Co., AR. and Parlena died 10 Sept. 1868 somewhere in MO. Children: Lucy Ann - B.16 Apr. 1845; Lucinda - B. 12 Dec. 1846; Joseph Oaks - B. 17 Oct. 1848; Francis M. - B. 20 Nov. 1850, John Curtis - B. 3 Nov. 1853; Isaac T. - B. 23 Nov. 1855; James R. - B. 3 Mar. 1858; Youdora Valery - B. 26 Dec. 1860; William Lafayette - B. 24 Oct. 1863J and Sarah Elizabeth - B. 16 Dec. 1866. Riley’s second wife was Mary Ann Thornberry -B.-Mar. 1840 and they had 3 children: Martha (Mattie) - B. 11 May 1870; Letty Josephine - B. 14 Nov. 1872; Carter B. 14 Apr. 1876. The first four children were born in TN. Others unknown but possibly were born in AR. Where did the family live in MO and where is Parlena buried? Since Carter settled in Springfield and James Marion, Riley’s brother, settled at Ava, maybe Riley was in that area, too.

Opha Wing (Mrs. Henry Wing), 715 Emil Drive, Arnold, MO. 63010 is interested in researching her mother’s LUTTRELL line and sends this data: Mother is Lillie Mae Luttrell, married name is Sligar. She was born 30 April 1888 in Christian County, MO., daughter of George Travis Luttrell and Mary Adams Luttrell. No record of their marriage has been found although the records of Polk, Greene, Christian, Taney, Stone, Douglas, Ozark, Lawrence and Webster counties in Missouri and Crawford and Boone counties in Arkansas have been searched. At the time of the marriage it is believed that George lived in Christian County and Mary Lived in Taney County. Lillie had an older sister who died, so it is thought that the marriage was in 1885 or before. Since the Taney County Courthouse burned in 1885, possibly the marriage took place there and records were destroyed in the fire.

When did Mary die and who were her parents? She died when Lillie was a baby, and in November 1890, George Luttrell married Annie J. Tittsworth in Christian County. Lillie was raised in this household.

George Travis Luttrell was a son of George D. Luttrell, a Civil War veteran, who lived in Christian County (Lynn township) in 1870 and 1880. In 1890 he lived in Reno, Taney County. He died in Ponce de Leon, Stone County. The children of George D. were: George Travis, born 1864; James Albert, born 1862 and married Lucinda Morrow; Charles, born 1879; Thomas, born 1881; Rachel E., birth date unknown; Alice J., born 1868; Lomanza J, born 1871; and Mary, born 1873.

The children of George Travis Luttrell and Mary Adams Luttrell were: Gracie Bell, birth date unknown; and Liffie Mae. The children of George Travis Luttrell and Annie were Roscoe, Edith, and James, all birth-dates unknown.

Mrs. Wing adds a postscript that her mother was 92 years old in April and is still going strong, does her own work, raises a garden of flowers and vegetables, even mows her own lawn with an electric mower.
