January 24, 1889
Eld. T. G. HAWKINS, State Missionary, assisted by Elds. A. COLE, of Protem, and J. M. WINETT of Cedar Creek, began a protracted meeting at the Brushy Schoolhouse on the 4th inst.
On Sunday, while it was raining, Eld. HAWKINS carried down into Brushy Creek, and baptized Curtis MERRIMAN, Abigail MERRIMAN, Jabez PIERCE, Frankie PIERCE, Sarah MILLER, Elizabeth WRIGHT, Theresa WRIGHT and William LEE.
The city of Kissee Mills is increasing rapidly. The family of Mr. J. W. ADAMS, consisting of Mrs. F. M. ADAMS, Miss S. F. ADAMS & Miss Minty R. ADAMS, arrived from Marion County, Arkansas on Monday. Mr. J. A. KEETER and Mrs. S.L. KEETER also came from Marion Co.
William SANTTER, visited his brother at Protem, on his way to his old home in North Missouri.
January 31, 1889
Among new residents at Kissee Mills are Mr. I. CASE and family and Mr. Wm. SCHOBORG and family.
Mr. Thos KIETHLY has just returned from Billings with his young wife. He married Martha JOINS, who formerly lived on Bull Creek.
February 21, 1889
Hon Samuel DEAL will start with his family and stock, including about 100 head of cattle, for Arizona this Spring. The major will go into the stock business there.

James ROBERTS, W. H. COCKRUN & J. L. WHITLOCK of Lead Hill, spent several days here this week... waterbound. The boys made themselves as comfortable as possible and after a while Beaver Creek ran down and they pulled their freight. Verily the life of a carrier on the Springfield-Lead Hill road is full of ups and downs. First it is Swan Creek, then Beaver and little creeks galore... Roughroads and no "roughness" much mud and little money, big loads and mad mules are among the daily experiences of the men, who take the place of a railway in this county.
April 4, 1889
THE LEAD HILL HILL HERALD says Capt. HINDES has bought a fine tract of 280 acres in Taney County from H. E. SHARPE.
J. W. PRUITT married to Nancy JACKSON, formerly Nancy LUTTERELL of Conner, at Forsyth by JONES, Esq.
Let us make a move all along the line to build two bridges in Taney County, one at Kissee Mills, the other at the mouth of Bilyeu Creek.

April 18, 1889
Mr. Allen THIMBLE died suddenly at his home 6 miles S of Protem, Taney Co., the 13th of April 1889. Mr. THIMBLE was born in Marion County, Ark., June 14, 1815 and was therefore nearly 74 years old. He was married twice, his first wife was a sister to Uncle Jake NAVE, and the 2nd wife was Tom BROWN’s widow. Eight children and 46 grandchildren mourn his loss.
June 6, 1889
J. J. BROWN has purchased the balance of the stock in the old OZARK NEWS office and he informs us that a red hot, all wool and a yard wide, Democrat paper will be an addition to the Ozarks in the near future.
October 24, 1889
The name of Layton Post Office has been changed to Kerbyville Post Office.
The Road Overseer has made a great improvement in the road at the Barker Hill between Kissee Mills and Forsyth.

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS-
Notice is hereby given that the undersigned by virtue and authority of an order made by the County Court of the County of Taney, State of Missouri, will receive sealed bids for the constniction of a Court House at Forsyth in said Taney County, at his office in Ozark, Missouri up to noon on Monday, Dec. 2, 1889, in accordance with the plans and specifications on file at the office of J. S. BARTON in Springfield, Missouri. Said Courthouse is to be 40 feet by 50 feet, 2 stories high, with Tower 12 ft. by 12 ft. and vestibule, etc., 6 ft. by 23 ft. and built of Taney County native stone... Total cost thereof not to exceed Five Thousand Dollars. ($5,000.)
November 28, 1889
The Kerbyville school building is completed and now our city boasts of the Best Schoolhouse in Taney County. Rev. J. R. VANZANDT will preach in this new schoolhouse next Sunday.
Messrs. John BRYANT and Benjamin PRATHER have just returned from Calif.
December 19, 1889
Mr. Milan WAGONER & family who have been living on George’s Creek, Ark., stayed all night Sunday with C. C. CASEY of Kissee Mills, on their way moving back to near Bradleyville.
We understand the people are going to organize a Sunday School at Swan at Uncle Bob CLINKINBEARD’s.
