Meeting-Date-Place-Time
President Lucille A. Brown convened the annual meeting of the White River Valley Historical Society at the Good Memorial College Center Cafeteria, at The School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO., on June 8, 1980 at 1:15 P.M. Past president, Helen Fletcher gave the invocation.
Welcome
Greetings were extended and introductions were made by each of the 44 members & guests in attendance. Esther Beveridge was in charge of the attendance register.
Minutes-Approval-Treasurers-Report
Minutes of the March 9 meeting were approved as printed. The treasurers report showed a $1634.22 balance.
Correspondence
Correspondence from the Missouri State Genealogical Association was read.
Ex. Comm. Report
The Executive Committee reported having appointed Cuma Horst of Ozark to fill the vacancy of Christian County Director.
In Memorium
A tribute in memory of Henrietta Hall given by Townsend Godsey was followed by a moment of silent prayer.
Annual Reports
Annual reports of Officers were followed by reports of Committee Chairmen.
Election
A second reading of the Committee on Nominations by Chairman Beveridge was made and members elected: President, Lucille A. Brown of Hermitage; Vice president, Kathleen Van Buskirk of Hollister; Historian, Viola Hartman of Kirbyville; Barry County Director, Mildred Roden of Cassville; Christian County Director, Cuma Horst of Ozark; and Stone County Director, Leonard Williams of Crane.
Program
Mrs. VanBuskirk announced that the next meeting on Sept. 14 would be "Show & Tell Time" and asked members to relate an old story or show an old treasure. She then introduced Douglas Mahnkey who spoke on "Who Killed Wash Middleton - U.S. Marshal or Bounty Hunter?"
Installation
Dr. Alice Nightingale installed the newly elected officers and directors and challenged both the officers and the assembly continue to preserve our heritage.
Announcements
Mrs. Brown announced for sale the Topical index and back issues of the quarterly; asked members to send material for the quarterly; and, reminded all of the next meeting on September 14.
