Minutes of the Summer Quarterly Meeting
September 14, 1980

Meeting-Date-Place-Time
The White River Valley Historical Society held its regular quarterly meeting on September 14 at 1:15 P.M. in the Good Memorial College Center Cafeteria at The School of the Ozarks with President Lucille A. Brown presiding. The invocation was given by Betty Brown.

Attendance-Welcome
Esther Beveridge was in charge of the attendance register which was signed by sixty members and guests. President Brown extended greetings and new members and guests were introduced.

Minutes
Minutes of the Annual meeting on June 8 were approved as printed.

Secretary’s Report
The Secretary’s report communicated the following information:
Seven members joined during the first quarter of 1980-1981.
Three hundred thirty-six (336) issues of Volume 7 - Number 4 (Summer ‘80) were mailed on August 22.
Three Topical Index and one hardback "Son of Pioneers" were sold.
Announcements concerning today’s meeting were sent to 11 area newspapers.
Article submitted to The State Historical Review was printed in April issue.

Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer’s records showed a bank balance of $2117.18.

Editor’s Remarks
It was announced that the Secretary-Treasurer would edit the Quarterly for 1980-81. She asked that material for publications continue to be submitted.

Museum Report
Ralph Lucas, Museum Chairman, reported that Dr. Dorothy Cummings had donated many of the requested issues of National Geographic to Ralph Foster Museum.

New Business Motion on Quarterly Pages
The proposition to add more pages to the Quarterly, if enough material was obtainable, was suggested; cost to be an additional $65.00 to the present price of $360.00. The Secretary announced a re-evaluation of quarterly costs requested by The S of 0 Press will be made before January 1 and that a raise in price can be expected. Leonard Williams moved that the magazine be kept to 20 pages. Motion carried.

Program
Kathieen VanBuskirk, Program Chairman, was moderator for a Show and Tell session in which 24 members displayed and explained a variety of historical treasures.

Announcement
December 14 was announced as the next meeting date.

Adjournment
Meeting adjourned at 3:50 P.M.
