Minutes of Annual Meeting
June 14, 1981
Meeting-Place-Time-Date-Invocation
The 20th Anniversary meeting of The White River Valley Historical Society was called to order by President Lucille A. Brown on June 14, 1981 at 1:20 p.m. in the West Room of the Good Memorial College Center Cafeteria at The School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Missouri. Dr. M. Graham Clark gave the invocation. In observance of Flag Day the Pledge of Allegiance was repeated in unison and the first verse of "America" was sung.
Welcome
President Brown extended greetings to the 64 persons present and each one introduced themselves.
Minutes & Treasurer’s Report
Minutes of the March 8 meeting were approved as printed. The treasurer’s report showed a bank balance of $2312.59 (with 2 bills outstanding).
Correspondence
Correspondence included an announcement of the first state conference of the Missouri State Genealogical Association to be held in Columbia on August 15; and an invitation from the Missouri Department of Conservation to attend Diamond Prairie Day on September 12.
Dues Raise
The Society voted to raise the dues to $8.00 per year, effective 1981-82, as recommended by the Executive Committee.
Election
The annual election voted the following members to office; President, Fred Hartman; Vice president, Paul Johns; Historian, Viola Hartman. Ionamae Rebenstorf was re-elected to another 3-year term as Secretary-Treasurer.
County Directors for 1981-84 will be: Taney County, Bessie Ingenthron; and Ozark County, Helen Zenda.
Annual reports
Annual reports were given by the president, secretary-treasurer, editor and historian.
Program
Kathleen VanBuskirk, vice president acted as master of ceremonies of our 20th Anniversary celebration. Edith McCall, one of the founders and first secretary, told of the society’s formation in 1961.
President Brown recognized twenty-six Charter members. Thirteen were present to receive certificates of recognition for twenty years of continuous membership.
Brief sketches of the seven living Honorary members was read by Mrs. VanBuskirk and she introduced Elmo Ingenthron and Lucile Morris Upton, who were present.
Mrs. Hartman introduced Past Presidents Mr. Ingenthron, Dr. Clark, Ruby Robins, Helen J. H. Fletcher and each spoke of the highlights and accomplishments of their administration. Dr. O. Myking Mehus was unable to be present but sent a written report which was read by Mrs. VanBuskirk.

Secretary Rebenstorf awarded the following attendance prizes; a bag of Edward’s Mill Biscuit Mix to Paul duBois of Decatur, IL the member who traveled the greatest distance to attend the meeting; and a bag of Edwards Mill Pancake Mix to Bessie Teague of Bruner, the eldest native born. Attendance register drawing won a copy of "Borderland Rebellion" for Lillian Harless and "Indians of the Ozark Plateau" for Arva Lee Vineyard. The books were donated by Mr. Ingenthron.
Installation
President Brown installed the newly elected officers and passed the gavel to Mr. Hartman, who announced the, following appointments: Editor, Mrs. Rebenstorf; Library chairman, Mrs. Brown; Museum Chairman, Cletys Ackerman; Publicity, Mrs. McCall & Mrs. Rebenstorf; Historic Sites, Douglas Mahnikey; and Nominating Committee Chairman, R. G. Weaver.
Announcement
Next meeting will be held on September 13.

Meeting adjourned 3:40 p.m.
