The second and latest Archives Information Bulletin on the holdings of the State Archives is a "Guide to the Morman War Papers -1838-1841." It is now possible to quickly discover the wide range of historical materials permanently preserved in the Archives without visiting Jefferson City.
Our best wishes for a speedy recovery to member Betty Burgess of K.C., KS who has been hospitalized with a pinched nerve in the neck, and to her husband, Fred, who is recuperating (in another hospital) from a seige of Chicken Pox.

Evelyn K Freeman, 6515 Cumberland Place, Stockton, CA 95207 is looking for a newspaper item about the death of her grandfather, John Farley, who died in Taneyville, March 18, 1898, and is buried in Dickins Cemetery. He sat on a three Judge Court in his later years, so there may be an article on him somewhere. Please, help if you can!
New member Fernella Fesperman, 515 N.W. Lahoma Drive, Bartlesville, OK. 74003 is searching for information concerning her grandfather. He was Thomas Emory Scott, born June 20, 1861, in Taney County, MO., the son of Neal Scott and ???. His mother died about 1863, burial place unknown. His father was a wagon maker and died about 1873 somewhere in Crawford County, Kansas.
He married my grandmother, Alice Kerr on March 27, 1881 in Medock, MO. He attended a boys’ school somewhere in MO. or KS.
Another new member, Mary E. Reeves, 1420 5. 87th E. Ave., Tulsa, OK 74112, needs help with John Davis (b. 1829 IA. d. ?? AR). Need name and birth date of 1st wife, who died about 1868 in MO. Second marriage was about 1869 to Mary Green Jennings (b. 1836 IA, d?? in AR).
Children of 1st marriage were:
Christopher Columbus Davis (b. Aug. 1862, MO); George Grant Davis (b. 31 Mar. 1864, MO.) My line; Martha S. Davis (b. Oct. 1865, MO); and Emma I. Davis (b. 1868, MO). Children of 2nd marriage were: Marinda (Linda) C. Davis (b. 1870, MO); John (Pete) P. Davis. (b. 1872, MO); James L. Davis (b. 1873, MO); Alfred (Rile) W. Davis (b. 1875, MO); and Cyrus Jennings (step-son of John, b. 1868, Mo). They were possibly from Ozark or Christian County, MO. In the 1880 U.S. census they were in Boone County, AR. Any help will be appreciated.
The Society has received a catalog from a Tennessee concern listing their basic Genealogical Source Materials from early Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina. They have census records, tax lists, Civil War Veterans Census, Church Records, many County marriage records, and Cemetery listings to name a few subjects available. Write the Secretary for additional information.

The Illinois Genealogical Society invites our members to join their group. They publish a quarterly, and a monthly newsletter. Membership year is from January 1 to December 31, and individual dues are $12.00. Those joining in mid-year will be sent previous issues to make up their full yearly quota of four issues. Clista J. Milner, 2722 Sherman Avenue, Port Orchard, Washington 98366 continues to need help with a journal she is compiling on the Petty, Cummings (Cumins), and Mooney families. She especially needs the birth, death, and marriage dates of Mary Ellen Petty who married Jacob Mooney Cummings.
And here’s a chuckle! Avis Hawkins of Shreveport, Louisiana writes, "I had given my husband the list of periodicals to renew, "W.R.V.H.S.?" he asks, he couldn’t figure out what that could be. Said he thought it could be something like "Women’s Rights Versus Her Spouses!" Thank goodness, you gave me some clue by circled label."
Dorothy Quaife, 505 5. Duke, Springfield, MO 65802, would like to contact any descendants of John and Elizabeth Ann (Allen) Coggburn who are buried in the Van Zandt Cemetery near Kirbyville. Elizabeth was a sister of my 2nd great grandmother, Rebecca, who lived in Taney County about 1870 (married to Nathan? Haggard) and later, to David Cameron, who died about 1884.
"I need help in locating descendants of my Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas relatives," writes Georgia Tucker Flock, 1113 S. Basque Ave., Fullerton, CA 92633. "I’m looking for the descendants of Abraham Lewis who married Sarah Tucker about 1860 - 1 in Barry County and other Lewis relatives; families of Martin Kerr and Nancy (Bryant) Kerr who lived in White River township in Barry County; Wallen and Maud who lived in Barry County in 1900. Also, Dovis, Horkisanc(?) wife, Elizabeth, children were Mary E. 12; Andrew Jacskson Dovis; 7, Cathair (Catherine) 3 and Samuel D. (w?) 1/12 in 1860 census, Douglas County, MO.
Our Sympathy
Our sympathy is extended to the families of members Ada Harris of Chadwick and Almer A. Ridge of Columbia, who have died since the last issue of the quarterly. Also, word has been received that former member, Marvin E. Tong, Jr., passed away on October 25 with interment in the Tong family cemetery in Danforth, Missouri.
