Volume 8, Number 12 - Summer 1985

President's Message

Congratulations to The White River Valley Historical Society as it approaches its 25th Anniversary. Let’s make it an exciting year! If this society is to continue successfully it needs the help and input of all the members. Let us hear from you.

Most of you are great storehouses of personal histories. I am constantly amazed when I read and hear how lives have changed in this area in such a short time. For the young people of today it is difficult to picture pre-electric and pre-pickup-truck living. Without a television or driving someplace they say that "there is nothing to do." We need to share with them the fun times as well as the struggles of those days. Let’s record as many of those insights into Ozark living as we can while we still remember what our ancestors told us. If we are to spread knowledge of history throughout the White River Valley we need the assistance of every member.

I appreciate your vote of confidence in electing me your president for the coming year. It will be my pleasure to work in carrying out our purposes and objectives with the help of all.

Penelope C. Willard
