Joanne Tankersley, Box 464, Creede, CO 81130 is seeking birth & death dates and parents of Henry Clay Tuttle and Julia Johnson Tuttle, his wife. Henry Clay came from PA or IA and settled in the Taneyville area and brother, Ed, settled in Ozark. Brother Jack lived with Clay & Julia.

Julia was half Cherokee. Her father emmigrated from Scotland and married a Cherokee woman. They had 2 daughters, Mattie & Julia. Their farm was attacked by Indians(?) and parents were killed. The girls were rescued and raised by a family named Johnson.

Clay & Julia had seven children: (in what birth order?) John; Charley; Bill; Maude Tuttle Riggs; Dixie little Down; Stella Tuttle Gideon: & Susie Tuttle Noble.

Susie went to the frontier town of Newton, KS and became a Harvey girl. Married Richard Webb Noble and lived in the Kansas City area. Susie died 1 Jan. 1967 and is buried in Mt. Miriah Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.
