December 11 Meeting

Meeting-Date-Time-Place-Invocation
President Fred Hartman presided at the second quarterly meeting of the WRVHS held in The School of the Ozarks College Center Cafeteria on December 11, 1983 at 1:15 p.m. James Horst gave the invocation.

Attendance
The president welcomed twenty-six members and guests who introduced themselves.

Minutes
Minutes of the September 11 meeting were approved as printed.

Treasurer’s Report
A balance of $678.98 in the checking account was announced by the treasurer. Amount cleared at the Ozarks Gnealogical Society Workshop Display Table was $56.50.

Correspondence
A letter from member Hazel Lowry of Falls Church, VA telling about the proposed destruction of many early Christian County papers was read. It was suggested that our members write letters to Christian County Court not to destroy any historical papers and/or give them to a repository or historical society.

Committee Reports
Historic Sites: a report prepared by Chairman Bill Cameron was read telling of the progress made on the Swan Creek Bridge Dedication Program.

Unfinished Business
A feed-back by those who took Historical Essay Contest sheets to various high schools was given.

Program
Ralph Lucas, vice-president, announced that Mary Elizabeth Bradley would present the March 11 program. He then introduced Robert Anderson and son, Curtis, members of the local Muzzle Loaders and Black Powder Club, presented a program of narration and demonstration of "loading" many old guns.

Announcements
President reiterated that the next meeting would be March 11.

Meeting adjourned 3:40 p.m.
