This list of those buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery was compiled by reading names and dates from grave markers and from statements by long time residents of the community. One fact soon noticed by any observer is the numerous infant graves and the many unmarked graves. We depended on the memories of those old timers to fill in the information about many unmarked graves.
The Oak Grove Cemetery is located in Stone County, Missouri, two miles northwest of Crane, just off Highway 13. It was the location of a pioneer rural school which is no longer standing. The Oak Grove School was a center for community life for many years. It was first used in 1868.
This list was compiled by Harlan Gatton, assisted by Otis Martin, Sam Mitchell, and Owen Custer in April, 1980.
