Ruth G. BROWN, 310 S. Airwood, Springfield,MO 65802 is interested in obtaining pictures of her mother, Clara M. WRIGHT GOETZ, daughter of William F. and Molly WRIGHT. There was a picture in one of our local county papers of August 8, 1974. It was of the BARGER (also called Possum Trot) School. Ruth’s mother was in this picture which was owned by Alma Roberts MILLER and was submitted by Lizzie DAVES. Picture was taken in 1910.

"I have not been able to obtain a copy of this picture. Does anoyone else have the same copy? If so, I would like to have a copy made from it. I am interested in any pictures of Clara Wright, expecially in her younger years, as I have none. Any help will be appreciated and will pay any reproduction costs," writes Ruth BROWN.

Helen Bozarth SINOR, 811 Cumberland, Dallas , TX 75203 would like to correspond with anyone researching William LAWRENCE born in 1817 in KY. He married Nancy WIRE born 1826 in IL. They were in Taney County, Campbell township in 1850 and Nancy’s mother, Sarah WIRE, born 1787 in VA was living with them. Eldest daughter, Sarah, was born in 1841 in MO and in 1860 married Stephen JACKSON who was born in 1838 in Dacatur County, IL.

The STONE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY is compiling a history book of the county and family histories are needed. Anyone having roots in Stone County and/or has information that should be included in the book should contact any member of the society for instructions. Articles are needed on past and present towns and settlements, unusual events and interesting happenings. Much information has been submitted but more is needed. Deadline for manuscripts is JUNE 15, 1988. Send material to Fern Angus, Secretary, P.O. Box 305, Marionville, MO 65705 or any member of the society.

Jonetta JONES, 3100 S.E. 73rd St., Lot 846, Ocala, FL 32671 is wanting information concerning LeRoy THOMAS. He married Sally OWENS, wife No.1, in Greene County, MO. Wife No.2 was Polly WARREN and wife No.3 was Sarah Ann BUCK. Polly and Sally were sisters. LeRoy was born in TN on 31 June 1830 and died on 11 May 1915. He lived most of his life in Taney County, MO, and is buried in Edwards Cemetery (Hwy. 76 & VV). He was a Methodist minister and at one time was "High Sheriff’ of Taney County. Were his parents Sarah THOMAS who married her cousin, Jonathan H. THOMAS? Sarah was the daughter of James THOMAS, SR. and Mary MORRIS THOMAS of Monroe County, TN. Any help will be appreciated and will exchange information.

Treva MASSEY, 16200 E. 35th St., Independence, MO 64055 asks for help on the following:

1) LAUGHON, LAWHON, LAWHORN. John W. LAUGHON was born about 182111822 in Alabama and lived in Fairfield County, SC. He married Sarah E. BEARD who was born in 1826/1827 in Fairfield County, S.C. John was a teacher. 1850 county census listed children: David R., 3 years of age; Nancy Rebecca, 2, born 22 Oct. 1847; and George W., 10 mo. Need parents and siblings of John and Sarah and the date of their marriage. After John’s death, Sarah remarried and moved to Crane, Stone County, MO about 1865.

2) Need the names of the parents of Catherine TORRENCE, born April 1848 in NC, who married Levi JOHNSON on 10 July 1872 in Greene County, MO. will correspond with descendents of any TORRENCE/ TORRANCE from Missouri.

3) Need information on Ephraim M. MASSEY who married on July 7, 1836 at Springfield, MO to Eliza WARREN. Ephraim disappeared from MO after 1843 when he sold his land holdings to his father, James H. MASSEY, SR.

4) Need date and place of the marriage of John DILL and Loransa (?) M ______________. They lived in Dade County, MO, 1866-1900.
