CHRISTIAN COUNTY MUSEUM

The Christian County Museum was an outgrowth of Christian County’s bicentennial commission. Opened in 1976 in the historic Adams-Anderson house in Ozark, Missouri, it specializes in displays and exhibits pertaining to the history of Christian County and the surrounding Ozarks. The museum is a not-for-profit organization funded solely by donations and fundraising efforts of county residents.
The museum is currently moving into a larger building at 202 E. Church in Ozark just off the northeast corner of the public square. A grand-opening for the new facility is scheduled for April 5, 1987. In addition to displays such as Railroads; Old Mills; Our Indian Heritage; The Bllyeu Canning Factory; Pioneer Tools; Entertainment In The Ozarks; Christian County Industry; The Early Settler’s Household Utensils; Antique Business Machines; The Springfield Wagon; The Baldknobbers; Civil War In The Ozarks; Toys From The Past; Christian County Hall Of Fame; Riverdale, Missouri; Delivering The Mail; and others, the museum will feature an expanded display on oldtime medicine and a special exhibit on pioneer photography set up by Ted Phillips of Reeds Spring, Missouri.
The museum will be open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the afternoon of the Grand Opening on April 5th. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. and a dedication at 3 p.m. Thereafter the museum will open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons from 1 p.m.. til 4 p.m.
