MINUTES OF MEETING DECEMBER 14, 1986

Meeting: Date, Time Place
The second quarterly meeting of the 1986-87 year of the White River Valley Historical Society was convened in the Banquet Room of the Friendship House at The School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO at 1:05 p.m. on December 14 by President Bob Gilmore.

Invocation
Fred Hartman gave an invocation.

Attendance
Thirty-four members and guests were present.

Introductions
Introductions were made

Minutes
Minutes were approved as published.

Treasurer’s Report
Reported bank balance was $2,562.89.

President’s Remarks
President Gilmore asked for membership increased and reported he had sent about 60 reminder cards to members who had not paid dues for 1986-87. He reminded us that great is the need for material for the magazine: Sherri Stump of the Table Rock Visitor’s Center had asked him for historical objects to display:

Paul Johns, former member, had been named Museum Chairman: Spring 1987 International Festival at Silver Dollar City asked us to be involved:

Steamboat Landing Comittee
Jerry Gideon spoke about the archealogical diggings going on in Forsyth and the plans of the Steamboat Landing Committee.

Quarterly Contents
It was announced that a museum would be featured in each issue of the quarterly.

Nominating Committee
President Gilinore appointed the following to the Committee on Nominations: Penelope Willard chairman; Artie Ayres; and Kathleen VanBuskirk.

Program
Program Chairman Gideon introduced Dr. Thomas Sweeney who spoke on "The Civil War Era in Indian Territory."

Visitor’s Center Request
President Gilmore spoke again on the Visitor’s Center project. No action taken.

Editor Request Editor Charlotte Dugan asked for quarterly material to be submitted as soon as possible.
Announcement
Next meeting scheduled for March 8, 1987 in this room.
