Death of Howard Everett (From a Taney Co. Paper) Died April 10, 1877 at residence of H. C. Everett in Taney Co., Howard Everett, aged 83 yrs. 8 mos. 5 days. Born in Va. and moved to Ky. young. In 1815 married Sarah Ann Waltrip and in 1818 moved to Howard Co. Mo. In 1820 in Clay Co. (it being then Howard, 15 or 20 miles from the west border line) During these years the whites had much trouble with Indians, having to build forts, and several families living together for mutual protection. Howard Everett was baptized by the Rev. Dudley Williams in 1812, he being one of the Simon Pure, Hard Shell Baptists. Ordained a minister of the gospel in the Baptist Church at an early day. There was a split in the church at time of Alexander Campbell about 1833 and he became a follower and he organized more churches in upper Mo. than any other minister in the State.
