Genealogical materials offer historical insight

Will Ingram passes on information about the Lena Wills Memorial Collection of genealogical materials which is housed in the special collections room of the Meyer Library on the Southwest Missouri State University Campus. "The Collection offers documentation for the serious student," he observes, "but is also a delightful pastime for the day-dreamer."

Although the Collection concentrates heavily on Missouri history, Tennessee and Kentucky histories are also understandably well represented, In-gram reports, as well as other states, and the countries of England, Scotland, and Ireland. "The Collection includes fascinating studies of the Cherokee and Creek Nations, as well as Mrs. Wills' personal studies of hundreds of family trees," according to Ingram.

The special collections room is open from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and 1 to 5 p.m on Saturday. The Lena Wills Memorial Collection must be used in the library, but photocopying is available.
