Mouse's House

Talk & Read Explore lots of words with your child.

Mouse's House

Play "Mouse's House": Cut a mouse shape out of paper or felt. Cut rectangles of many different colors, all the same size - just large enough to cover the mouse. Ask your child to close their eyes as you hide the mouse under one of the rectangles. Ask, "Which house is the mouse in?" and wait for your child to respond vocally. If your child chooses green, say, "Little Mouse, Little Mouse, are you in the green house?" and flip over the green rectangle. Continue until you find the mouse. Even if your child can't say the names of the colors yet, wait for him or her to respond to your question. You'll encourage your child to use language!
