Check Out Tumblebooks!

Running out of books to share? With the Library closed, it may be difficult to come up with more books to share at home together. Luckily, the Library has a subscription to Tumblebooks! Tumblebooks is an online ebook library that you can access with your children to find great books to enjoy together online. All you need is a device, internet access and a Library card number. Remember, if you live in Greene County, you can get a temporary card during this time to use our online resources and place holds.

Now that you are in Tumblebooks, here are some fun books to share together with kids under 6!

Duck! Rabbit! by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. Is it a duck or a rabbit? Depends on how you look at it! Readers will find more than just Amy Krouse Rosenthal's signature humor here—there's also a subtle lesson for kids who don't know when to let go of an argument. A smart, simple story that will make readers of all ages eager to take a side, Duck! Rabbit! makes it easy to agree on one thing—reading it again!

Stretch  by Doreen Cronin. There's nothing like a good stretch before you jump or wiggle or bounce or run, and the ever energetic team of Doreen Cronin and Scott Menchin show kids (and their parents) how a good stretch can be good fun. Especially if you're stretching your imagination at the same time!

Lola at the Library by Anna McQuinn. Lola loves Tuesdays because that is the day she and her mother go to the library. Everything about the trip is an exciting adventure -- from packing her backpack with books and her all-important library card, to storytimes and singing, to choosing new books and the walk home, when they always stop for a special treat. But the best time of all is when Mommy reads her story at bedtime.

A Penguin Story by Antoinette Portis. Edna the penguin only knows the three colors that surround her: white ice, black night, and blue sea. She is convinced there is something more out there. So she sets out on a quest—a quest for color. When she finally finds what she's been looking for, it's everything she hoped for and more. But that doesn't mean she will ever stop looking.

All Aboard the Dinotrain by Deb Lund. They stoke the boiler, stow the luggage, and when hills are steep, they even get out and push. That's right, the thrill-seeking daredevil dinosaurs from Dinosailors are back, and now they're riding a train. But this train is more like a roller coaster--up, down, and faster and faster, until the dinos realize the brakes are out! Laughs and thrills abound in this rip-snorting tale of reckless reptiles and their runaway train.
