Get Ready for Summer Reading!

The Library's Summer Reading Program, All Together Now, starts June 1st for ALL ages! Summer Reading encourages kids and teens to read for enjoyment over the summer months - which helps keep reading skills strong while school is out but also builds that love of reading that is critical. Participation is easy: starting June 1st either register online at thelibrary.org/summerreading or come to any Library branch or the Mobile Library to pick up a game board. Then get to reading! Kids ages 6-11 read ten hours and complete 8 fun activities to earn their prizes. Teens also read ten hours and do 8 activities while babies, toddlers and preschoolers participate in early literacy activities with their families to get their prizes. All youth earn a free book of their choice and a Youth Summer Passport upon completing their programs. There are thousands of books all ready to go for kids and teens to choose from and the Passport has offers from Andy B's, Chick-fil-A, Diventures, Pineapple Whip, Little Caesars and Urban Cup.

Have fines? No problem! Once kids and teens have completed their first activity they are eligible to get a Fresh Start Fine Waiver Card to get those overdue fines removed. Just come on in to any Library location starting June 1st. Books and Youth Summer Passports will be available starting June 12th.

For all those Star Readers out there, keep reading or doing activities to get entered into drawings for more amazing prizes! Youth can earn nine Star Reader prize entries before August 5th and each one gives them another entry into drawings for prize bags, free books and gift cards.

If you're still not excited enough, check out this fun video from Library Youth Staff - we know it will get you in the spirit!

On top of all that, we'll have five Fantastic Fridays in June, regular programs like Racing to Read Storytimes and STEAM Explorers, magicians, musicians and even some mad scientists. Check the Summer Bookends for all Library programs this summer.

There are wonderful things to do All Together Now at the Library this summer, we can't wait to see you!
