Pacific, Missouri Depot
Creator:
Unknown
Description:
The railroad depot at Pacific, Missouri used by the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway Company. This town was called Franklin when laid out in November 1852. Seven years later, when the town was incorporated the name was changed to Pacific, for the Pacific Railroad, then being laid across Missouri to Kansas City. The change in name undoubtedly was occasioned by the necessity of avoiding conflict with other towns with the same name. (The

present Franklin, Missouri, is north of Boonville on the other side of the Missouri River.) (—The Empire that Missouri Pacific Serves, p. 238.)
