PLAY

Roll-a-Rhyme

Rhymes are a fun way to play with sounds. A Roll-a-Rhyme is an easy game to make to play with nursery rhymes. Find or create pictures that represent nursery rhymes or songs. Use your favorites or ones you remember from your childhood. Glue one picture to each side of an empty tissue box. Roll the box or let older babies roll it themselves. Sing the nursery rhyme that matches the picture.

SING

The Itsy Bitsy (Eensy Weensy) Spider

The itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout, [twist hand as you move it up to symbolize a spider]

Down came the rain and washed the spider out! [move hands down and spread apart]

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain, [spread hands above head]

And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again. [twist hand as you move it up to symbolize a spider]
