Names of Towns in Texas County Suggest Romance
Names of post offices in Texas county are said to lend themselves more readily to a play upon words than the names of the post offices in any other county in the state. In an effort to establish this claim, the following romance was suggested: (hint: Towns names are capitalized)
“Oscar, a likely looking Ladd, who was a Sargent, fell in love with Hattie. Meeting in the Evening Shade, they went to Plato for advice and he reminded them they were not in Edenville, so they formed a Guild and sailed from the Yukon to the Nile, passing the Dykes on their trip.
“When they got hungry, Oscar went out to hunt, but proved himself a poor Fowler, so he took home only Bendavis apples.
“Returning to Texas county they found Alice, a friend of the groom, had informed his father of Covert Huggins under the Maples, and the Licking the parent administered was so well Dunn that it was an entire Success – and the eloper had to be revived with
Hartshorn."
