Strafford Branch Library to Close March 24-26 for Expansion
The Strafford Branch Library is growing to meet community needs!
The library branch is adding 1,250 square feet to its location in Chestnut Plaza, Strafford, expanding the library to 3,750 square feet for community and club meetings, private study and relaxed reading.
The library will be closed on Thursday-Saturday, March 24-26, so staff can move furniture, shelving and collections. The branch will reopen for service at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 28.
Visitors will see a new community room, three study rooms, a new reading room in the former community room, and staff work areas.
To celebrate the expansion, the public is invited to a brief ribbon-cutting event with Strafford residents, city and county leaders at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, in the branch. Refreshments will be served.
For more than 30 years, Strafford was one of 23 stops on the Springfield-Greene County Library District’s bookmobile rural routes. Traffic through the bookmobile was so heavy that the Library opened the current site in August 2008, and it has enjoyed a consistent increase in circulation since then.
