Love TED Talks? TED-like Event Comes July 19 to Library Center

   In the style of the popular TED Talk podcasts, the Library Center will present innovative ideas in bite-sized lectures from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, in the Library Center auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

     The evening will feature eight-minute talks by some of the Ozarks’ most innovative and engaging thinkers about cutting-edge technology, business, the workplace, personal growth and the writing life.  

     Here’s the lineup:
• “Your Ideas Are Worthless” R. Cody Stringer, Entrepreneurial Specialist, Mercy Research, Product Development

• “Small Structures of Great Impact: The Microelectronics Revolution” Jim Lamb, Corporate Technical Fellow, Brewer Science, Rolla, Mo.

• “Nanotechnology: Safe and Responsible Deployment Through Collaboration” Rishi J. Patel, Senior Research Scientist, Jordan Valley Innovation Center – CASE, Missouri State University

• “Adventures in Writing – The Journey to Becoming a Writer” Todd Parnell, writer, clean water activist, retired Drury University president and banker

• “Poverty in Springfield: The Fairbanks Formula” Amy Blansit, Kinesiology Department instructor, Missouri State University; author; owner of Blansit Investment Group; and chair of the Drew Lewis Foundation.

• “Millennials Aren’t the Problem” Jeremy Clopton, director at BKD and instructor at the Management Development Institute, Missouri State University

• “Knowing Your Significance” Keith Ray Mackie, Behavioral Science Department adjunct professor, Evangel University; small business counselor and consultant.
