Fall Tips for Your Garden Harvest Aug. 13 and 27

   You’re proud of your summer garden harvest, now learn how to be save those seeds, enjoy all those veggies, or get in on Tomato Fest and swap stories and seeds with others!

    Super Easy Seed Saving, Saturday, Aug. 13, 1-2:30 p.m. at the Midtown Carnegie Branch upstairs meeting room, for adults. Learn how to save seeds from tomatoes, lettuce, beans, peas and more from Patrick Byers, horticulture specialist for the University of Missouri Extension. Registration starts August 1; call 862-0135.

    Cooking from the Garden: Mediterranean Summer Cooking, Saturday, Aug. 27, 1-3 p.m. in the Midtown Carnegie Branch upstairs meeting room, for adults. Springfield Community Gardens board member Chadwick Ibom, Certified Executive Chef, will demonstrate delicious and easy Mediterranean preparations of eggplants, peppers, zucchini, tomatoes and others classics that the community gardens are bursting with in the summer. Produce for the demonstration provided by Springfield Community Gardens. Visit the Springfield Community Gardens table at the event and watch for another Cooking from the Garden program this fall. Registration starts August 16; call 862-0135.

    Tomato Fest!  Saturday, Aug. 27, 2-4 p.m. in the Library Station, for all ages. Join us in the Library Station lobby and community rooms to celebrate all things tomato! We'll have fun for the whole family, including seed swapping, live music, refreshments, crafts, displays and more. Call 865-1340.
