James Harriss “Another Such Victory: An American Fable” Book Signing Oct. 1 at Library Center

Author James Harriss will sell and sign copies of his first book, “Another Such Victory: An American Fable,” from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, in the Library Center concourse, 4653 S. Campbell Ave.

“Another Such Victory” is the story of a classical poet-warrior cast in the mold of an American soldier and set between 1948 and 1978. Ben Moore is a cedar chopper and writer in a small, west Texas town. He is also the son of a professional soldier and World War II hero. Partly from duty instilled by his father, partly from despair at love gone wrong and partly from dismay that his stories go unnoticed and unpublished, Ben enlists as a private in the U.S. Army. During the next 30 years, he retires as a general, commands a division, advises a president, becomes an acclaimed author and loves with all his heart two very different women. “Another Such Victory” is both a love story and a war story. A story for everyone who struggles to reconcile what never was with what might have been and to come to terms with what is. A story of our yesterdays.
