McDonald County Library Director is New Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library Manager
Jeana Gockley, who has been director of the McDonald County Library since February 2016, is the new manager of the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library, part of the Springfield-Greene County Library District.
The branch closed in April 2016 to undergo a $2.5 million renovation. At the grand reopening celebration at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, it will be renamed the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch in honor of the $1.2 million campaign gift from Springfield resident Jewell Schweitzer. Gockley succeeds former Brentwood Branch Manager Kim Flores, who is the new Library Station manager.
During her time in McDonald County, Gockley is credited with restructuring and reorganizing the Pineville, Southwest City and Noel branch locations she oversaw, despite having to create a 2016 budget with diminished state funding, fewer materials and less computer support.
Before working in McDonald County, Gockley was a children’s librarian at the Joplin Public Library since 2001. She earned a Master of Arts in Information Science & Learning Technologies from the University of Missouri - Columbia; and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Missouri Southern State University, Joplin.
