ARTICLE_TEXT <p>Kick off the month with the <a href="http://www.missouriliteraryfestival.org">Missouri Literary Festival</a> featuring readings, presentations and workshops with over 40 local authors. One ticket will get you into all three days of this event running Friday, October 2<sup>nd</sup> through Sunday, October 4<sup>th</sup>.</p> <p>Pumpkin lovers should check out <a href="http://www.pumpkindaze.com">Republic Pumpkindaze</a> for live music, a pet parade and a Pumpkin' Chunkin' Contest. This all day event begins at 8:00 am on Saturday, October 3<sup>rd</sup>.</p> <p>The third annual <a href="http://www.itsalldowntown.com/events/4089%20Oct%203">Taste of Springfield</a> will be held Saturday, October 3<sup>rd</sup>. This festival includes Iron Chef cooking competitions, live cake decorating and food sampling from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.</p> <p><a href="http://www.artcraftguild.org/">Art in the Park</a>, a festival presented by local artists, will feature fine arts and crafts including painting, photography, jewelry, glass pottery, sculpture, and more. Stop by Sequiota Park in Springfield onSaturday, October 10<sup>th</sup> and Sunday, October 11<sup>th</sup>.</p> <p>Take a trip to the past by visiting <a href="http://www.visitmo.com/listing/?ContentGUID=E379D823-FA53-4348-BAEA-8BFD02E04384">Nathan Boone Homestead Days</a> in Ash Grove on Saturday, October 17<sup>th</sup> and Sunday, October 18<sup>th</sup>. Enjoy demonstrations of 19<sup>th</sup> century crafts or visit living history camps representing Boone&rsquo;s various careers.&nbsp;Listen to live performances of traditional music.</p> <p>Missouri State University is sponsoring a Foreign Film Festival with events on Thursday evenings throughout the month of October. Check out <a href="http://calendar.missouristate.edu/viewevent.aspx?eventid=17837&amp;occurrenceid=60595"><em>Meia-noite</em></a>, a Brazilian drama directed by Walter Salles on October 8<sup>th</sup>. Enjoy <a href="http://calendar.missouristate.edu/viewevent.aspx?EventID=18001&amp;OccurrenceID=64850">Spanish Film Night</a> on October 22<sup>nd</sup>. October Festivals in the Ozarks
